A detox bath is a simple, yet effective, way to relax, reduce stress and enhance our body’s natural detoxification process. A detox bath can boost health and well-being, while encouraging the body to flush out toxins.
1. Add 2 cups Epsom salt to a tub full of hot water. Water
should be hot enough to create a sweat.
2. Add 1 cup of baking soda if your bath water in not filtered. This will help neutralize the chemicals, primarily chlorine, and increase mineral absorption.
3. Immerse yourself in the water, all the way up to your neck. Close your eyes and soak for at least 20 minutes.
4. Once you have finished soaking, stand up slowly. You may feel light-headed or dizzy, but this will go away as you shower off quickly in cool water.
5. It is important that you do not use harsh soaps or shampoos as your pores are open and will absorb the chemicals readily.
6. Once dry, apply a natural moisturizer like shea butter or coconut oil and aluminum free deodorant – no lotions with perfumes, dyes or chemicals.
7. Do not eat immediately before or after taking a detox bath.
8. Instead hydrate yourself with filtered water before and after.
9. All time after your bath to rest and rejuvenate!
